The Squeaky Bean finds a new home in LoDo
We like to report good news.
We were sad to post in 2011 the closing of LoHi favorite The Squeaky Bean as lease negotiations feel through on the Bean’s renewal at their 33rd and Tehon location. There was an outpouring of support from bean fans and more than a few offers from their customer base to identify a new location (in that persons neighborhood of course).
Well at long last we have news of the Bean’s new location.
The Squeaky Bean, chef Max MacKissock’s restaurant with partners Johnny Ballen and Josh Olsen, announced they will reopen at the historic Saddlery Building on the corner of 15th & Wynkoop in Spring of 2012.
The previous Bean location dished up great gastronomique fare sans a full kitchen. Just imagine what they will be bringing to Denver with a new location AND a new full kitchen. Of course the Bean wasn’t just famous for it’s great food. Their mixologists had one of the best reputations in Denver for their drink menu as well. Now with a full chef kitchen we simply can’t wait!
The Saddlery Building, which was built in 1900, is undergoing an extensive renovation on it’s roughly 70,000 square feet. The project is mixed use which residents above will enjoy the Squeaky Bean treats below. Rumor is that the historic preservation of the building is a HUGE priority in this renovation, a character that should mesh well with the eclectic nature of the bean.
The Westword blog shared that the Bean will be preserving many of it’s eclectic twists and turns that made us fall in love with it.
Spring can’t come soon enough for us to welcome the Bean to it’s newest location in Lodo. Cheers Squeaky Bean fans… they’re Baaaaack!
