12 Hour Improv-a-thon
For those who love comedy, especially Improv, there is a very special event taking place today at the Bovine Metropolis Comedy Theater in the heart of our Downtown Denver Theater District. It is the 12 Hour Improv-a-thon to help future Improvisors. Remember every star had to start somewhere.
For 12 hours straight, Improv Instructors at the Bovine School of Improv will improvise to help raise money for the Bovine School of Improv Scholarship Fund.
If you aren’t familiar with Improvisation then the name Tina Fey or Second City might spark an understanding. Improv is a religion in cities like Chicago, Toronto, and Los Angeles where most comedy performers, writers, and improvisors go to try and break into the biz.
In Denver the comedy scene is growing. And no neighborhood gets to reap the rewards more than our own Denver Theater District. Residents of MOD hip towers such as SPIRE and the Four Seasons, along with many converted lofts and condos, have the Bovine Metropolis and the Denver Performing Arts Center just footsteps away.
For many this neighborhood makes for the perfect second home or great city escape. It is our version of ski in ski out… except it’s theater, sporting events and great restaurants that are just outside your front door.
Cheers to the performers at the Bovine and if you need some laughter or levity this holiday season everyone who buys a ticket can come as they please between 12 noon and midnight. It’s a perfect night to have some laughs, grab a great downtown dinner, return that sweater you got from Aunt Ester (with the wonderful reindeer print), and then come back for more laughs to finish off your day.
